Founder and President, Daniel Oehy, arrives in Canada as an exchange student from Switzerland.
1983
The original company name was Classic Imports based in Russell, Manitoba. The first imported houseware products were cream whippers from Kisag of Switzerland.
1986
Relocation to Richmond Hill, Ontario and company name changed to Swissmar Imports Ltd. Began sourcing for new products to companies outside of Switzerland expands to France, Italy and Germany.
1987
Started selling to USA
1989
Moved to current location in Richmond Hill, 35 East Beaver Creek Road, Unit 6.
1990
Due to success in US market, created Swissmar Imports Inc.
1992
Swissmar becomes the exclusive North American partner for Peugeot of France.
1996
Swissmar develops its own line of vacuum wine pumps.
1999
Swissmar develops its own line of raclette grills and fondues. They also have the first home rotary drum roaster in the market.
Started yet another company, Swissmar International Corp, to service the growing demand of the international market.
2001
Swissmar becomes the exclusive North American partner for Börner of Germany.
2003
Swissmar introduces a new collectible series of Peugeot pepper mills. Company also celebrates 20 year anniversary.
2004
Renovation and fourth expansion of Head Office.
